Overcoming Fear: Growing Through Life’s Challenges

Who I am? It was a question I kept asking myself as I went hiking through the forest, no trail in sight, by myself. If you know me, you know I’m a stick-to-the-trail kind of girl – or at least that’s who I have been. The thought of making my path through the underbrush used to be terrifying!

Through this year, I have questioned who I am a lot. Feeling like I’m fading. When trauma is being healed, it tends to leave a lot of things to process in the wake. There have been pieces I have had to say goodbye to because they don’t serve who I am now. To be honest, it’s left me feeling off balance.

Today, as I stepped into the woods, I realized it’s okay to be where I’m at right now. It’s okay to say goodbye to the pieces; in fact, it’s healthy even. It doesn’t mean I’m not me anymore. It just means I’m growing, moving forward. At the core, I’m still me. Now, though, I’m a woman who is trying to not let fear hold her back. Embracing the unknown a little more, and discovering who I will become.

Fear once kept me on a trail. Stepping into a world with no path was adventurous as it was exciting. A place of peace and beauty – I would have missed in the name of fear. Here’s to not being scared of who I am, and embracing all the changes. I’m excited for the journey!
